CORY CORNELIUS

Cory’s background differs from that of most CrossFit coaches. He was the overweight kid in high school. He loved strength work, of course, it was in his wheelhouse. It was the conditioning he wasn’t too fond of. He was active in high school sports though playing football and baseball. Once he got to college he grew frustrated with his figure and his lack of interest in strength gain. So his sophomore year of college he committed to a fitness and dieting method and lost 60lbs. With the loss of weight came a new love of fitness and things that challenged him. Fast forward to 2012 he was in New Orleans, LA for the National Championship game & he was currently in-between fitness programs after getting plantar fasciitis from his stint of chasing running goals. While there he met one of the founders of the University of Alabama CrossFit Club, who challenged him to come try out CrossFit. Having previously read about it & liking the idea of the challenge Cory took him up on the offer of February of that year. It was exactly what he was looking for; that competitive environment that had the perfect marriage of strength and conditioning and daily challenges you mentally. Cory is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer.
